Workshop helps kick-start business ideas

The Mont Alto LaunchBox will offer a free workshop for aspiring entrepreneurs from 6 to 7 p.m. April 25 at 40 North Second St. in Chambersburg. “So, you have an idea for a business. Now what?” will be presented by Kathyrn Gratton, SCORE Four State Chapter chair, Arts Alliance of Greater Waynesboro executive director, and a certified small business mentor.

Penn State’s solar energy project digs deep for conservation

The new Solar Power Purchasing Agreement in partnership with Lightsource BP, announced by Penn State in February, has benefits beyond renewable energy. A national model, the agreement was designed from the start to extend its sustainability impacts to protection of the local landscape and encouraging student and faculty research.

Entrepreneurs across the University will pitch their business ideas and create inventive solutions to common problems through a series of competitions and challenges held during Penn State Startup Week from April 1-5. The challenges are at the heart of Startup Week’s mission of teaching and inspiring participants to make innovation a part of their lives, communities and careers, either by starting their own companies or bringing a problem-solving approach to established organizations.
