Are you willing to go the extra mile? These are opportunities that we have offered:
India
During fall 2019, students studying health care, sports, and community disciplines can enroll in NURS 499 (Foreign Study Nursing) and then travel to Kerala India (Dec. 9-22, 2019) to perform community service as it relates to their fields of study while also seeing some sites of India along the way. Are you ready to find out more? We have details for you!
In 2016, Penn State Mont Alto students participated in ASIA 197A/199A courses and travelled to India to study agriculture, society, business, and health diversity. They visited the Taj Mahal, the Sadhana Forest Village, and the Akshardham Temple. Student projects on a variety of topics relating to their trip were presented at the Penn State Mont Alto Academic Festival. If you’d like to see images from their trip, see our Facebook page. Upcoming trips will also share their photos and commentary.
HDFS in Florence (Human Development and Family Studies)
Robin Yaure has led the HDFS learning experiences in Italy for years. This is a seven-week summer program based in Florence, Italy. Students in this program go to ancient sites in Rome and Pompeii to learn about the history of the Italian family, visit schools in Florence and Arezzo for their Early Childhood in Italy class, and learn about the role of government, culture, and food in the contemporary Italian family through visits to local businesses and small towns.
The course description for the summer HDFS in Florence experience is online.
Alternative Spring Break
In 2020, Penn State Mont Alto is providing two different Alternative Spring Break experiences: Montréal and Pittsburgh. While one is out of the country and one is in-state, both trips will allow participating students to broaden their horizons.
